A joint statement issued following the meeting said that the ministers had agreed to continue to work closely on strengthening security and military interactions between all countries, build communities and promote regional peace.

They also prepared for the second ASEAN Militaries' Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Exercise (AHX) to be held in Brunei Darussalam next month and adopted a Concept Paper on the Establishment of the Experts' Working Group on Humanitarian Mine Action for countries in the region still affected by landmines.

Myanmar's Minister for Defense Lt-Gen. Wai Lwin attended the summit, which was the seventh ASEAN Defense Ministers' meeting. Preparations also took place for Myanmar's chairing of ASEAN in 2014.

The statement did not mention whether discussions on recent calls for a jihad against Myanmar by Indonesian extremists took place at the meeting.
