The delegation arrived in Thantlang Township (border town with India) on Wednesday where it was received by thousands of townspeople lining the main streets. Women were clad in full traditional Chin dresses, according to the Chinland Guardian website.

A large billboard at the centre of Thantlang town read, “A Warm Welcome to the CNF Peace Delegation!”

The Chin state government will be represented by Colonel Zaw Min Oo, the Border and Security Affairs minister.

Representatives from the Union government will also be present during the talks, a CNF source confirmed.

The CNF delegation was received at the Indian border by members of the government’s Peace and Tranquility Committee led by Rev. Dr. Lal Uk along with the Chin State Minister of Agriculture Van Thawng, Thantlang Township administrative officer Rum Thang and Zomi Baptist Convention General-Secretary Rev. Van Thawng Mang, according to the Chinland Guardian.

In early December, an emergency conference of the Chin National Front unanimously endorsed the decision to meet with the Chin State government.
