Police search for second man in Insein bomb blast

New Delhi (Mizzima) – Police are searching for a second man identified as a suspect in a bomb blast on Sunday in the Aung Zeya Housing Complex in Insein Township in Rangoon. The bomb blast injured eight people.

Police say the bombing appeared to be an accident, but after discovering a cache of explosive material in the bomber's apartment, they are now looking for a second suspect. According to the document, Saw Myint Aung is a bodybuilder.

The authorities linked Saw Myint Aung to Zaw Min Than by inspecting overnight guests lists.

The state-run newspaper New Light of Myanmar reported on March 1 that an explosion occurred beside the Ei Shwe Sin Store between Building No. 1 and Building No. 2 of the Aung Zeya Housing Complex in Insein Township in Rangoon at about 7:10 p.m. on February 27. The bomb apparently accidentally went off, injuring the bomber who was reportedly in serious condition.

The newspaper said that while searching Room 502 in building No. 4 of the Aung Zeya Complex, where the suspect resided, officials seized an improvised bomb made with a detonator, four batteries, a watch and a block of TNT five inches in length, three inches in width and three inches in height packed in yellow paper and six detonators and two coils of wire.
