Earthquake hits northern Kachin State

A 5.1 earthquake on the Richter scale struck northern Kachin State on Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. about 30 kilometers north of Moenyin, according to the US Geological Survey.

There were no initial reports of injuries or damages, officials said.
The Kachin’s last stand
Since October this year, Burma has been in a state of civil war, with fighting between Burmese military and armed ethnic rebels. The ruling junta started a crackdown on these armed groups.
