Win Tin reappears at NLD office after recuperating from illness

New Delhi (Mizzima) – After one month of recuperation at home, NLD senior leader Win Tin, 82, reappeared at the National League for Democracy office in Rangoon on Wednesday.

The Home Ministry sent the NLD a letter on Monday saying it was conducting its activities in violation of the law because it had failed to re-register as a political party. The NLD denied the allegation on Wednesday.

Win Tin was admitted to Asia Tawwin Hospital on May 27 to undergo medical tests on his liver, heart, kidney, chest and stomach. He was discharged on May 30. He came to the office on Wednesday to attend a NLD youth meeting from states and regions.

Win Tin, Vice Chairman Tin Oo and Aung San Su Kyi are the three most senior NLD leaders. “Win Tin told us to work and do good. These three leaders are the icons of our party. They are the most trusted and most relied upon in our party”, Myo Nyunt said.

Win Tin was arrested in 1989 and released in September 2008. After he was released from prison, he was fitted with a pacemaker for an irregular heart beat.
